Header benefit?
What kind of benefits should I get from putting headers on my truck? I already have a high flow muffler and I have 2 picked out. Either Folwtech Shorty Smog headers or the Summit Shorty headers. They look about the same except for the price.

Really check the flowtechs because they seem to be a pain in the a#$ when it comes to keeping them sealed. I have been working on a dodge that keeps leaking and now they are warped between the center 2 cyls. If the ports are all seperate like the 302s then they might be fine but never really worked with them on a ford.

I would look at higher quality headers if your concerned about leakage or longevity issues. A few that are good would be Bassani , JBA or Edelbrock if your looking at a good set that wont leak. Another important thing to keep in mind is to use fasteners such as "stage 8" header bolts that are designed to not back out, thus keeping your headers from leaking.
A good set of equal length headers should pick you up an additional 10-15 HP.

there are a few more options. A good gasket should be the #1 thing you can try. Isn't it the thicker the gasket the better? I would think that a non-brass colored gasket would be good. At least that's what I've heard.
