2006 ipr problem?

I have a 2006 6.0 with 353000kms. sometimes when cold and started it with kick off a p2284 and does the weird idle thing. if it runs for maybe a minute(depends on temp) i'll shut it off , restart and it will run great all day. also sometimes it will start and idle fine but when it kicks into fast idle it with do the p2284 and choppy idle. if its plugged in and started it hardly ever acts up even in -25 C....... its weird but definitely related to oil temp I think.... sound like a bad ipr????

well I tried a spare sensor I had today, same thing so I grabbed the sensor from my 2004 and put it in and its the same thing. I tried the icp sensor from the 2006 into my 2004 but my 2004 wouldn't start cause the batteries are low. I am thinking the sensor is fine

P2284 is a fun code to diagnose. Here is the list to go down... you already eliminated the ICP.

Possible causes:
  • incorrect oil or viscosity
  • poor oil quality
  • gelled fuel/no fuel
  • low fuel pressure
  • biased ICP sensor
  • IPR valve
  • high-pressure oil system leak
  • high-pressure oil pump
  • PCM

I will also add a wiring issue

The best thing is to get a scanner to check some things

So what he is saying is neither truck started so you DID NOT Verify a good ICP Sensor
Thinking a sensor is good isn't good enough you must test and verify

What are you using to see DTC With will it show live data

my 2004 starts and runs fine (now that the batteries are charged)ewith the icp from the 2006. the 2006 does the same thing with 2 icp sensors I've tried. (1 from my 2004). i'll put a new ipr valve in next week.

it has new 0/40 synthetic in it. I am thinking I don't have a high pressure oil system leak because the truck will start fast. actually starts better than my 2004 .

Probably the HPOP

its in the injectors too

maybe it will work its way out the injectors hope you have a OEM Oil filter and cap

Post the ICP and ICPV and IPR% with EOT @ 185+ Test at Idle and 2500rpm Tunner still off this will tell us condition of the HPOP

Looking for 2 values per EACH Sensor

Should of checked ICPV @ KOEO

IPR% at idle was little high

but the rest of those ratings look great I would really expect to see the IPR% at 2500rpm to be off with a bad pump IIRC FORD CALLS 40% at 2500rpm

Like Benny said, IPR was a little high at idle but so was ICP for an 06 factory tuned. Was it up to operating temp?
