frozen doorlock?
I have a 2000 f150 with remote locks and the door lock froze up after the last ice storm. I am wondering if I can heat the key and insert it without doing any damage to the key or the lock. THanks for your help.

Dose the remote actuator lock/unlock the door? The actuator and the key lock operate independently of each other. If the remote works ok but you can't unlock/turn the key in the lock, then it's just the lock assembly. Most people lube locks with things like WD40, silicone, etc. Locks should only be lubed with graphite. Oils etc. will eventually dry out and collect dirt and dust. Pull the door panel and check that there is no physical obstruction to the movement of the linkage. Go to an electronics store and get contact cleaner. It will flush out the lock cylinder and then evaporate, leaving no residue. Then buy lock lubricator. It looks like a hypodermic needle without the plunger. Just one puff into the lock cylinder is all you should need. A little of this goes a really long way. Good luck.

If it is truly ice then get a hair dryer. works fine. do not heat some of these keys. I like the one, try your keyless pad if you have one probaby don't or you would have tried it already. I like reading these, tho can't help much. ws
