At a loss for where to turn next. 2005 6.0 EX. Tried everything to make cruise work, no luck. Finally took to dealer, they replaced clock spring and rechecked everything else. The cruise will set sometimes, after lots of button mashing so I know it works, might stay on five miles might stay on five seconds. Not sure what else to check. Thanks

They are only charging for the clock spring install. They did offer to replace it with my original and only charge me for the $75 diagnostic fee. I told them to leave the new one in.
You and they settled on a course of action and executed the plan.
It (the problem) is not corrected.
What am I missing?
The few times I have taken a vehicle to a shop (time constraints, aka my time is worth more than the money they are charging) we agree on the probability of success and what "plan B" is going forward.
You have a much stronger negotiating position going in than coming out.
Have you tried checking the wires for the switch? Could be they've gotten a little chaffed and are grounding out inside the column, causing a randomly incomplete circuit.
I would also check the connection at the servo unit under the hood. It is sometimes known to corrode.
Could also be the brake position switch on the top of the brake pedal.
Brake position switch has been replaced. Where is the servo unit located, I'll take a look at that. I was told the 6.0 has no moving parts under the hood, just holds throttle position in the PCM???
