Oil consumption

Hey all I checked my oil on my truck today, 2014 5.0 with 1,875.6 miles on it as I do every week and today its at the lower circle or add mark. This to me is alarming it hasn't had any oil changes or anything yet ive had it 7 weeks. It has been very cold in my parts about 15 below. Is this dare I say normal? I will be calling the dealer to get it in but I don't have the tolerance to hear its "normal" and have them tip toe around like they seem to do a lot. Any ideas suggestions or the like???? Oh and it has the factory 5-20 motorcraft semi blend. Thanks everyone

I'm the read between the lines kind of guy so I'll ask. Did you check the oil when you bought it? You stated that you check it weekly, has it dropped a little each week?

I'll bet the dealer will say that as the engine is wearing in .

Personally, I'd make up what is lacking and continue to do so for the intended duration of your oil change cycle, record how much oil I've added and then schedule an appointment with the dealer for the first oil change.

While it's in, I'd have the service writer open a case and document your concerns to the word.

Then I'd run it one more change cycle and if it continues to lose oil, then I'd act on it.

Thanks for the reply seekins, yes I did check it when I bought it and it was full. I did see the level go down weekly but not very much, so I thought "normal" but last check it was low on the stick. I will do as suggested, last night after work I ran to Walmart and picked up a at of oil for it and put not quite 8oz just for a safety and I'll check again today. Thanks for the tip I will keep posted on it as it increases in mileage.

I remember when the 5.0 first came out there were some complaints of excessive oil consumption, but really haven't heard much since. I'd put a few more miles on it and see if it changes, maybe the rings just haven't seated properly yet?

Thanks for offering to keep us updated, TritonF150. If you decide to have your dealership inspect, let me know and I'll escalate this to your regional customer service manager.

I did not check my oil when my truck was first driven off the lot. I did check it a couple weeks later and it was a little low. I went back to the dealer and they told me since my truck was built 8 months earlier that this is normal. They did an oil change and all was okay from that point on. I had just over a 1000 miles on it at the time.

I bought my truck in June 2011 and it was built and delivered tot he dealer in Jan 2011, it sat for six months. I made the dealer change the oil before I would take delivery. They pushed back on this for some reason, they thought I was being a bit obtuse. TOO FRICKEN BAD!!!!!

What's an oil change cost them vs the sale of a new truck? I'd think they would comply to such a simple request
