I did receive my grille from LMC and its not to bad of a piece. If anyone is wondering it says charcoal but it seems black to me. The theme I am shooting for is like the STX. Thinking a Calypso green bc/cc on the body, headlight surrounds and bumpers. Grille, side steps, mirrors, trailer hitch, lower front valance all in a satin black.

The grilles that fit are 80-86, only. The 80-81's had no Ford emblem, and 82-86 did. Black grilles of that era are rare, although I can get the part number if you want to search for one. But, it isn't too difficult to paint one.
Just freshened up my grille a bit. Pictures don't do it justice.
UGLY
For anyone who cares what I used and how I prepped it. I used gloss black Krylon fusion, a green scotch brite pad and ammonia water. Went to town scuffing and cleaning in the honey combs. Then afterwards I washed with water and dried it. Ran a clean blue shop towel soaked in brake wash and made sure everything was spotlessly clean inside. Came out looking pretty dang good!
I think a grille looks best when accompanied by matching headlight doors, the way the factory did it. In other words, black grille and black headlight doors. Ditto gray or charcoal.
Not always. My 1985 F150 XLT Lariat came with a chrome/charcoal grille but with chrome/black headlight doors. My 1985 sales brochure confirms this.
I. - 1980-1981
1. Argent Grille = Charcoal Headlamp door accent
2. Chrome Grille with Argent accent = Argent Headlamp door accent
3. BlackGrille = Black headlamp door accent
II. - 1982-1986
1. Argent Grille = Charcoal Headlamp door accent
2. Chrome Grille with Charcoal accent = Charcoal or Black headlamp door accent
3. Black Grille = Black headlamp door (XLS)
It's not officially in the Ford catalog, but it seems that from 1980 - 1983, the chrome (or "Brite") grille/charcoal accent used chrome/charcoal headlight doors. But from 1984 - 1986, Ford used the chrome/black headlight doors with the chrome grille/charcoal accent.
