Cowboy, I voted for the 2nd one, I think more black will go better with the black headlights. Plus I've always liked the SuperDuty barred grilles over the "big mouth" Ex version.
When are you gonna start driving this beast!?

I voted for the second as well - should go well with those headlights. Plus - you gotta keep the big oval on the front!!

now I am sort of leaning more towards the first one for a couple of reasons:
  1. More people like the second one, I like to be different
  2. I am getting a big black ranch-hand style bumper with a grill guard that will also have horizontal lines. I think it will look too busy with the grille having cross-members and the grille guard right in front of it.
  3. Too much black is going to make this look very unbalanced.

I made the mistake of putting too much black on the front of my old white truck... in the end I was forced to just paint the whole thing black. I don't want to paint this one black... so I think I need more chrome.

I'm kind of busy with projects right now, I'll be ready and it will be ready in a few more weeks.

Exactly, you can add as much black as you want to your truck, I have to be cautious with mine.

I don't remember seeing where that black grille was being sold. I'm interested...

eBay... I've been chatting with the guy back and forth via his email
HECTOR RODRIGUERA hrm233@hotmail.com

here is the original item eBay - Billet Grille

his eBay id is hrm233 eBay - hrm233

He sent me even more different options last night, some all chrome, some chrome with a white outline

And yea... I've pretty much decided based on the picture of my old truck that I can't go with the all black grille, it will look dumb like the picture below.

I voted for #2.

My white grille is cracked top center just below where
the hood latch is (not sure I can glue or otherwise repair it).

Where did you get that picture?
I'd like that in white if I had to buy a new grille "someday".

I found the ebay store from the links and man what cool stuff - thanks for posting!

I think go with the second one and paint the grill white to match your truck. The white grill on a white truck makes them look like monsters.

Question

You guys are killing me. I thought posting a poll would make this easier... but I am still conflicted...

I just sent they eBay guy the following message.
Hold off on shipping me the billet one… I am still conflicted… I think I might rather have the one with the logo spot.

I’ll try to make up my mind. If it doesn’t ship until Tuesday that is no big deal.
I am just not sure now... arg

It is the difference between something like this...

and something like this

and in that case the 2005 style is clearly better... but that truck is not white

I also want to get the bumper pictured below, which makes me thing the horizontal lines won't be needed, because the brush guard will have them

So I do all of this stuff to the truck, over months, don't really have any problem picking what I like, now I am stuck on the grille, maybe I just have anxiety about finishing it????

My truck is like the black one pictured "I likes the looks" and this grill is a killer on the white ones also.

You mean that style looks good when color matched on a white truck?

I've seen the white trucks with that style grill in white and with that style grille in the tan/gold color. Never seen a white one with that style grille in black.

I am just worried that I am gonna do the same thing I did with the last truck. Start with a couple black parts then paint the whole damn thing black.
