Unbolt the six bolts (for a short box) that hold the bed on and loosen the hose clamps that hold the fuel fill tube(s) to the gas tank(s). Unplug the wiring harness for the tail lights. Have a friend grab one side and pick it up. That is all that I did. Weighs about 350 lbs. If you want to save weight, take the tailgate off.

One tip you might like is rather than removing the hose clamps and disconnecting the filler tubes try removing the 3 screws (just inside the gas tank door) that secure the filler tubes to the box. They are really easy to get at and then you don't even have to think about crud falling in the tank.
