Very wierd thing happened on the way home from work. Want to see what anymof yall think. When I left work (not to full temp) at about 1500 rpm and 30 mph (had to be at 30mph--seemed to be the key) the whole truck felt like it was rolling across rumple strips (the ones one the shoulder of the road) all vitals were normal and it was gone once on the interstate and up to temp (I did gon on it to blow out anything that may have needed to be) it felt more like drive line but honestly can't say. Thoughts?
Do you use your 4x4 regularly? Or have you used it recently? Could be a hub hanging up. I have a lazy one and when it doesn't disengage it sounds kinda like that. I let up on the throttle then get back into it and it goes away. At least that's what i think i have it down to.
I had that feeling happen occasionally in an xterra I bought used, and figured out it was the torque converter, when it locked or unlocked. I changed the fluid 3 times (because you only get like half out each time) and it solved it. Best of luck to you - I hope it's that simple!
Just a guess of course but I would suspect an fuel injector was having a cramp. Being it was not fully warmed up is a more common time for it to act up. Just one injector having an issue at speed can cause a vibe in the engine that seems a lot like a rumble and feels like it's coming from the drivetrain. I guess it's just the design of the whole truck but often times, engine issues get blamed on the trans or transfer case.
Maybe monitor FICM and try some oil or fuel Addative if it continues. A power balance test might be a good idea if it continues to be a problem.

Actually I have over the last week-used it most every day. Makes sense--when it started doing that I turned the 4x4 on for a minute then off. It did cross my mind at first--was thinking maybe with all the ice and ice o. The under side of the truck that maybe that had something to do with it. Come to think of it when I got to work this morning and parked I could have sworn I heard the buzz test kick on (truck was running but in park) but I bet that was the vaccum pump running (wasnt in 4x4 though)

I'll have that covered soon. Will be installing the 6.4 pan and new fluids of course.

First thing I did was switched over and looked at ebp, icp, ipr. Ficm was up already and normal. Ebp was a bit high but wasn't to temp--so a bit high was to be expected (I think) the engine did seem to be as smooth as normal at the time as well which made me disregard engine--but could be hard to tell. At idle at stop light it was purring. Also no smoke, boost was good, acceleration was normal. I just ran diesel extreme through and put in dk white bottle last week when I filled up (knew the Arctic air was coming) But the injector brain fart does make sense as well. Hopefully it was just a vehicle brain fart--we will see.
