can someone direct me to an engine builder that has knowledge of our efi trucks. I'm wanting to get a motor rebuilt to stock. I'm not looking to modify radically.
I'd prefer someone in west tn, but I'll deliver if need be.
For the machine work I'd go with Sandy Walker on Jackson Ave Memphis.

Far as a builder I dunno, I always put my own together, but Sandy might do it for a price either shortblock or longblock.
Top ends and accessories are usually pretty easy for even a novice to do, just take your time with it and don't skip anything
PS: I just got off the phone with Sandy, and he does both short and long block builds.
if it was as simple as assembly I would be confident in doing it my self. where I loose faith is setting up the timing. I'll give them a call. should I tell him Greywolf sent me?
They don't know that name - I'm "Dutch Jacobs" from Drummonds, and I mentioned sending him a 351W to build a 408 out of (he loves like anything to build 408's out of a Windsor 351 block).
Sandy is the area standing expert at making a serious 408W
Talk to him about the right cam for what you want it to do - make sure you do.
If he knows the block, the heads, the vehicle, and what you want it to do - he can pretty surely set you up with the EXACT cam that will work the best in it.
~and the valve timing is everything. Once you set that up, it can never change until you do some serious work.
With a new build, new valves, and whatever cylinder volume and heads you have, the time to set it up right is rightnow, without any guessing.
Sandy is experienced enough to dial it in the first time

He has built thousands of them...
Thanks for the heads up. I'll get in touch with them as soon as my taxes are here.
I come to Drummonds often. there is a fab shop there, Edwards Sheet Metal, that does work for my company.
Then you probably know the 3-way intersection next to the post office and dollar store.
There is a dead end street that also comes off that intersection that I'm at the very end of named Barton Road.
If you come to the end of it and see a pile of scrap metal, a small blue car and a tan Ranger on jackstands - and off to the right is a whole mess of hacked up tree parts, that's my humble little den on the bluff.
A short block or long block would have the valve timing set up for you. I hope you don't mean to tell me you have trouble using a timing light on the 'strib...
