Just to be a little upbeat, there are many of the early trucks out there running the origonal HPOP. There does seem to be an issue with them tho. I have a friend who had a 6.0 before I got mine several years ago. His HPOP went out around 90k mi, he had it replaced three times, the first replacement only went 10k! He got discouraged because the pump was so expensive and sold the truck. I also happen to know the fella who bought it and the fourth pump hasn't been a problem.
My point is, there SEEMS to be good ones and bad ones. If the one in the truck is doing good I would leave it with no worries. If it breaks, spend the bucks on the sooper-dooper aftermarket part.

Thats what I was thinking too, if there was a upgrade then yah, would like to slap it on it, but for 1K I will wait for the original to go out, seems to run fine though...
