I cant see it coming apart without the axle pulled. I always think how to do things like this also. I did hammer the old ball joints out of a ranger front end. Quicker than the press, but that was a stamped steel control arm. Might need a press on these knuckles to remove.

I have the otc bj press and a 20 ton shop press. Hammer is still a dammed fine removal method though... Feels good too.
