I have a 1950 F6 with the Eaton 2 speed axle. The vacuum diaphragm for the speedometer gear adapter is split. Is this part available anywhere? Everything else works and I would like to get the speedometer working correctly.
Mike,
I'm parting out a 52 M6 with the 2 speed rear. I was wondering what the vacuum was all about. I'll take a look tomorrow and see what sort of condition the diaphragm is in if you want?
Thank you for all of the help. Chuck's Trucks had a NOS speedometer part I purchased and it is working fine.
CaptPayne: If your 2 speed axle is vacuum shifted, meaning it has a large vacuum diaphragm on the axle with a spring on the rear of it, and it is in good shape, I would be interested in purchasing it. Being a '52, I think it will be vacuum operated. The other vacuum operated item is a small transmission on the speedometer that changes the ratio when you shift the axle. That is the part I found at Chuck's Trucks.
Mike,
It is the vacuum shift. Haven't gotten the rear axle out yet, but it's there under the Anthony dump hoist. Like I said I'll take a closer look at the works and let you know.
Not using either as my main project is a 51 F5 M-H, I have the whole vacuum manifold off the firewall too. I'll take a pic when I get home. Everything is in good shape iirc.
Sportster.Mark: I live in SE TN. If it is in good shape, I would definitely be interested in the vacuum diaphragm for the axle, maybe even the whole axle. Please contact me at the e-mail address above.
