What's involved in r&r headlight switch on 88 F250 ? I've done it on 82 F250, no big deal, but this one was done a year ago by a shop, now needs doing again. Is this common ?
pretty much the same as the 82. closely inspect the plug that goes into the switch. they get hot and melt. parts stores have them. i always replace the plug with the switch, even if it looks good. cheap insurance in my eyes.
Thanks for all this ! Tom, you were right, the problem was not the switch, which was replaced just last January a year ago, but the connector - the plastic was melted where the + comes in to feed the switch for the dash lights/running lights. Why ? Probably that I have used this truck for 28,000 miles the last year hauling a camper with 13 additional running lights on it.
What I needed, and FORDF250 got me by it, was the proceedure to get to the headlight switch. The video showed me what I needed to know to get the switch out w/o crawling under the dash. These old bones no longer glory in the contortions needed for the earlier models gyrations! I was able to simply pop out the lower bezel, after pulling out the two *****, then remove the nut holding the switch to the mount, then remove the mount from the dash and the switch could come out. THANKS FORDF250 !
