Well, scanning if free at most parts houses so the paycheck thing isn't a viable option there, if you can't afford free, then you must reallly be poor!!

I think if it was mine I would have it gone through the whole way.
At least that way there isn't any doubt as to the condition of the other parts in the transmission and you hopefully wont have to do it a second time.
That is what I decide to do. Just wouldn't make sense (or cents) to skimp on it once someone is inside it.
Thanks for all your advice and assistance.
The only bright moment in yesterday was when I finally got to pick up my '56 chevy that now has a new interior and some great looking new Crager S/S Wheels.......
No sir! I'm not into all that. Originally when I drove it in high school and college it had a 235 straight 6, then in 1991 I had a rebuilt 283 put in it and that's as far and as fast as I care to go.
I have a blinking over drive light. The initial thought was a transmission problem. I recently had a transmission kit replaced. With the cold weather (sub-32), my transmission was clunking, shifting rough.
I ran an Internet search and tranced it to a possible Vehicle Speed Sensor. I once had a vehicle over-heating, put some dollars into it to end up finding on my own that the fan connector was cracked. There could be moisture or damage to the connector.
Next, there came up a tie to the Vehicle Sensor and the ABS system. Now, something clicked. I know I need my brakes done.
Also, there is a connection between Direct and Indirect Tire Pressure Measuring and ABS Systems. My tire pressures have been off or low; and I had a flat tire last week.
Taking care of the little things, servicing my brakes - changing pads and rotors, cleaning the drums, checking and cleaning the ABS sensors, checking my tire pressure, having the tires balanced and replaced if necessary (two out of four are old), I can easily save expensive transmission service or replacement.
Also, having the transmission service or replaced might not even correct my problem. Even the Vehicle Speed Sensor was estimated at only around ~$42.
Great brain-storming by the collective thoughts of all.
