Radiator advice

I'm a newby, and I'm needing a new radiator for my '52F1. I see all these shiny aluminum radiators on ebay that would fit and cost around $200. Some are Champion. Are they any good? Anyone have experience with these? That seems like a awfully low price and I don't want to buy junk. Your knowledge would be appreciated.

I installed a Champion aluminum radiator on my F4. A very light dusting of semi gloss black and it no longer looks so gaudy and out of place. Thinking of replacing it with something that looks more original.
Edit: Sorry for my bad manners, welcome to the forum.

I'm glad you told me that, I was wondering how it looked. Do you think if there was a lot of chrome under the hood it would fit in, appearance-wise?

Just got a Champion for my 51. Very nice looking welds. A good coat of black to make it disappear and I'll be happy. Have Walkers in other vehicles I own and they are by far superior, but for $250 on a daily driver Champion is the way to go. All in how much you want to spend. Cheers!

Aluminum Radiator

I recall a recent discussion in this forum about the use of epoxy in aluminum radiators and failure.

Be careful, you get what you pay for.

Regards, Mark.

Champion Radiators do not use epoxy.

I put a new aluminum radiator in my 53 Bel Air last summer. The cost for copper has made original replacement radiators too expensive. So far I am happy with mine.

I got a champion for mine. I did a dusting of zinc chromate and then painted it flat black. It works very, very well and I can't complain about the fit. The only little minor beef I have is the auto transmission cooler fittings are smaller than stock - I can't use them anyway because my mechanical fan interferes, but something to be aware of if using it...

I think it was a good value for the money.
