Now I have searched but still have not found a match to what I hear. The whine comes on when I hit the gas but it will go away if I don't adjust the pedal. If I just tap the pedal it will make noise but a few seconds later it will go away after the I let go of the pedal It sounds like it is a noise from the throttle body. I'm 95% sure It is not a idler pulley, power steering or the alternator. It's not the belt. It will do it in any gear including park and Neutral. It sounds like it shuts off after the TB valve closes. It did it for one day a month ago and now it started again yesterday. It does not go away after warm up and it is not there when I start the truck.
Well I forgot to add the truck is all original except the belt and it has the 5.4 with 243k on it. most threads say the Alternator , how come the sounds stops when letting the engine go to idle?
If It is the alt is it going bad like it will fail soon or is it just a noise?
Did you fix the issue? try using a spray bottle with water on the riged side of the serp belt if the wine goes away you need a new belt. if not loosen the belt and hand roll each pulley and listen the one that makes the most noise is usually the culprit.
I probably, from your description, probably got similar... Its sort of like a whine but maybe a slight whistle in it too. Only at a certain press of the gas it happens.
Let me know if you find the issue or fix, would appreciate it.
I first thought it was the power steering or something. I took my belt off few weeks ago to check it, maybe something got under mine. Just stranger.
Yes just like that. From what I have read it is the alternator. I plan on buying one and keep in it in the truck until it goes out.
Did you investigate this further? I actually noticed that Ive got a nice power steering leak from one tube down by the frame almost. I'm not sure if that would make the noise too.
I took it to the ford dealer and they looked at it while changing my plugs and said they don't see anything but cold just be old parts getting old but did not shgest to replace anything at this time. It has not happened in a while now.
