Make sure to remove all sensors you don't want them to get
into any cleaning bath. They will be toast after that.

I gotta think the STC fitting would have been updated by the previous owner by now. I've only had the truck 4 months and it had 200k on it when I bought it. The PO bought it new and all service work was done at the local ford dealership.
As long as you dont drop anything down the openings there nothing to be scared of. I did my oil cooler and did not replace mine just to tear it all back down shortly afterword to do the stc. With everything off its easy.

After my last debacle with a failed updated STC fitting, i would seriously consider replacing it while that deep. Its 8 bolts, $42 and some permatex.

Well I've gone as far as I can until the machine shop gets done cleaning my intake manifold. They told me they'd clean it today and it would need to hang overnight so I'll have it back tomorrow. I went ahead today and took the turbo apart to clean the unison ring and vanes. I wasn't having any turbo problems but I figured I would clean it since I had it out. Here's a couple pics before cleaning. I cleaned and inspected the unison ring, removed all the vanes and cleaned under there then applied a coat of anti seize, cleaned all the vanes and put it back together. I also removed the IPR and inspected the screen. It looks good to me but should I replace it anyway? I don't have an IPR socket but with the turbo and everything out, it was easy to break the IPR loose with a big adjustable wrench. Anybody know what size that nut actually is? I'd rather not use an adjustable on it but I didn't have a box wrench big enough.
