crazy newbie question
I have a Chilton's manual for all the 60's trucks... It has stuff about the Dana rear ends, Spicer rear ends, and something called a Ford Banjo (removable) carrier axle. Where is the Ford 9"? Is the Dana also referred to as the 9"? What does the 9" refer to? The width of the pumpkin?
crazy newbie question
No. A Ford 9" is a Ford 9". Mainly distinguishable by the removable third member as opposed to a rear cover. The 9" ring gear is where the name Ford 9" came from. (as opposed to a 8.8")
Dana and Spicer is (now anyways) the same company, sometimes referred to as Dana Spicer. Spicer is actually a division of Dana to get technical.

The banjo-removable I think refers to just the ability to remove the third member, and not a reference to anything that might be inside it. I.E. you could have different diffs in a removable member??
Does the Dana 44 ever come in a removable third member? Or is it always in the integral kind (with a cover)?
