Good morning,
I am wondering what type of axles I have on this truck, Id like to replace the covers, but not sure which DANA it is, anyone know? 40,50,60? thxs!!
Front should be a Dana Super 60 and the rear should be a Dana S110. Good luck changing the rear cover though. Unless something has changed, the rear cover is not removable and is cast into the axle.
Thxs for the input, so, whether it states standard wide track 60, its a Dana 60. As for the rear right now, the cover is an alumnium ribbed cover, not solid, the bolts are a problem loosening, top 4 bolts are a different size and the bottom 6 are a different size. The angle and room to maneuver a tool in that spot is daunting. I read thus far, that yes your right, its a S110 and a M80. one in the same?
My bad on that. For some reason I thought yours was a chassis cab. You've got the Dana 80 in the rear if it's the F-450 pickup. The 450 and 550 have the S110 and the 550 gets the S130 with the payload upgrade package.
You've got the Widetrack 60 in front and the 80 out back.
in all sincerity, its a 2011 F550 Chassis cab, but the rating is the same as the F450 2011. Therefore, I will go with your thoughts on this, I just chgd out the LV fluid, MANG! 12 qts, which I expected, filling was easy, but the dipstick suxs, your cannot get an accurate reading, but I know it shifts fine and does feel better prior. My next task is to go up a size or two to 285/70/17. I'll never understand why it has 17's on a 550. I know the 285s will work, I may be close on the rear though, I may be able to get away with it without adding the spacers. My last 08 F550 had the school bus tires, 19.5s on it! Im not interested in a lift, maybe a leveling kit, it does need it. Also, the steering damper is crap, FMC alrdy replaced the OEM one. death wobble a plenty. What I have found out, trying to get the right app for a dble damper like Ive seen on other similar superdutys, It may not fit since there is no lift. Any thoughts on that? I did see an app, the Bilstein single damper, not sure yet. I added the Bullydog airbox, well, it breathes better, but no noticable chge in miles per gallon. I think the EGR (which has been replaced once alrdy thru warranty) needs to go, and the 300 lb DPF (looks like a military grade cold war era sonobuoy, you drop out of a P3!) needs to be taken off. I wonder how bad it would be to do that and still pass state inspection? That DEF crap is a mess. Really, using dry cleaner fluid. Anyway, Im in process and researching apps to improve this beast.
That's strange. I've never seen a 550 with anything but the 19.5s on it nor have I seen one with a Dana 80 or any type of removable rear differential cover. I have no idea what your truck setup is.
