Need Headlight Switch

Hey all,
I have a guy helping me with the 12V conversion on my 51' F6. We are able to get the headlights to turn on, however, the dash or running lights will not come on. Does anyone know a good place to find a headlight switch? I called NAPA and they only carry the dimmer switch. I did find a switch for F1-F5 on Mac's website. Would there be a difference between the F5 and F6 headlight switch? Seems like they would be the same. Thanks for the help.

Just a question, why do you believe a new switch is needed?

Also, the dash light is controlled by a toggle switch on the lower edge of the dash near the starter button. Unless the bulbs were swapped out, the 12v power would likely blow the bulbs. I trust that you have a plan for the power to the stock gauges.

BTW, if you are in OKC, Obsolete Classic Auto Parts on I-35 South, carries truck parts, including light switches. The F1-5 switch will work.

Thanks for the reply FortyNiner. We think its the switch because we don't get juice to any of the posts on the switch except one. We can jump the other wires over and the other lights will turn on. I do not have a toggle in my truck. I did find the F1-F5 switch you're referring to. I actually opted for a universal switch from Oreilly's, it was $40 cheaper, haha. Also, we did we swap out all the bulbs to 12V and installed a resistor for the gauges. I ordered a full conversion kit from Vintage Auto Garage.

Good to hear you have a ready solution. Are you expecting to get on the road this spring?

One advantage of the aftermarket switches (universal type) is that they (usually) leave the running lights on when headlights are on. The stock switch turns them off. A nice feature if you lose a headlight while out driving.

I just used a light switch from a car from the junk yard out of a 70-80's car.

I'm using the original 6 v switch with 12 v . My lights work fine my dash lights work fine. Dash lights changed to 12v.Even using the original dimmer switch. Have you made both red terminals hot?
