Torqshift Job2 update problem?

Ok so I have not been on here in a while because I had no computer.
So I have a 2005 Super Duty V10 with the Torqshift Transmission Job-1
I wanted to do the update to Job-2.
My reason is because the job-1 only filters out 10% of the fluid until the fluid is heated up to 165 degrees. Anyone know how long the fluid takes to get up to 165 degrees?
Then the other day I found out this...If I do the job-2 update I run the risk of Transmission failure due to extreme cold temperatures. I would also have to replace the pump?

Check it out see post #20
External trans filter-TP roll - Page 2 - Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com

Thanks Guys

Yes, that's true. There were some problems at extreme cold temps with the new filter and the older pump. It happened after I left, so I don't have details. From what I heard, and this isn't first hand information, the problem happened below -30F. Don't forget that windchill means nothing to this, only actual temperature counts.

As for how long it takes to warm up to 165 degrees, the only answer I have is it depends.

Thanks for the fast reply Mr. Mark...
Also I have the Scan Gauge II and also I installed an Auto Meter Temperature Gauge to the driver side test port of the Transmission. Is the reading im getting the fluid temp or transmission temp?
Thanks again....Gage

Edit...I think im just going to drop the pan and replace the external FT-145 filter and add the 8 quarts of Motorcraft SP fluid or use Motorcraft LV fluid...they are compatible I believe.
I might drain the Transmission pan every other oil change?<-------Overkill?

Before I can answer that I need you to define what you mean by transmission temp and fluid temp. I don't know how to answer your question.

I mean that both of the gauges I installed say trans temp...the sending unit of the Auto Meter gauge is installed into the test port of the transmission housing, and the Scan Gauge II is hooked up to the OBD port. I should of asked are those gauges taking the transmission housing temp or the transmission fluid temp?
Thanks again...Gage

I believe they are talking about NON Torqueshift applications, I can't find the article right now but LV was designed to replace SP in the Torqueshift. Also SP is still readily available.

I guess I don't understand the difference that you see between trans temp and fluid temp. They are really the same thing. Both sensors are seeing trans fluid. The internal one is mounted inside the trans and the external one is mounted in the case. I'm rambling here because I really don't understand what you're asking. It's transmission temperature, why do you separate fluid and housing temp? What's the difference?

Ok I got it now...I was just concerned because I don't think that my transmission ever gets over 165 degrees. I know it wont when its in the teens outside but now im going to keep an eye to see how hot it gets.
Thanks...Gage

It rarely will get over 165F because the 6.0L came with a BIG cooler. When the trans thermostat opens the trans fluid is quickly cooled and the thermostat usually closes prettu soon after it opened.

The V10 cooler isn't as large, but it is still more than adequate.
