Regen??

I was wondering if the manual regen feature can just be programed in, or are there hard parts (harnesses, switches, etc) that have to installed. If its just a quick flash at the dealer, has anyone done it and how much was it? Thanks!

I know it is a $250 option on the XL and XLT. It is not optioned on the Lariat and above. Not sure if it can be added via dealer programming or not. Like you, I wish it was available.

I stopped worrying about the regen process a long time ago. I just let the truck do it's thing. Twice in 142,000 miles has it prompted me to "Drive to Clean"

If the regen starts just before I get home. So what, I shut down and let it restart when every the parameters trigger it again. It's just not a big deal.

But as stated above, It's not an option on the Lariat and above trim levels.

Same here, If regen starts and I need to stop, I stop, let it cool a few minutes and shut it off. It is smart enough to restart the regen process when needed.

You can get an Edge Insight for a little over $300 and it'll do a manual regen. The extra gauges are worth the extra cost over the factory manual regrn option.

Dealer can only program the F250/350 with the most basic screen... hence XL and XLT

So...1700 miles on the new truck so far and I have not have a single active regen yet (I think). Now what may be happening is that all the driving I have done so far has been conducive to passive regen. I haven't had a indicators on the dash or any odd behavior I could even contribute to and active regen. I don't idle a lot, nor do I do a lot of stop and go driving, 20 miles to and from work, all back roads averaging 55mph with a few stop signs. I'm either broken or operating correctly, I guess i'll have to wait and see which one.

PS..This is my first diesel, just trying to figure it all out.

Short Answer is that the truck is new and PCM is learning your habits. It will let you know if you have a problems.

FYI:
Brought my truck in for the Recall and asked about OCR and the Tech is going to Ford training and he is going to ask and will let me know when he gets back.

Chances are you missed the Active Regen message. It only flashes for 2 seconds or something like that.

At 55 mph freeway you are only getting your EGTs up to 450-500°. You need to get above 572° to have an passive regen.

If you ever smelled something like paint starting to melt then you had an active regen. That's what I confirmed after I got my Edge Insight.
