remove the fuel filter and fill it with diesel fuel, diesel kleen, or automatic trans fluid. then try starting. it should start and die.
then remove the filter and refill it. it usually only takes 2 or 3 times to get it running this way.
don't run it too many times or you'll be buying a pump, the fuel is the only lube in pump, & this low sulfur doesn't provide much to begin with
that is an old wives tale.
there is just as much if not more lubrication in the current fuel as there was with the old high sulfur fuel.
the difference is the old high sulfur fuel had a cetane rating of 60 or higher, the new ulsd fuel only has a cetane rating of around 40
tjc, don't want to start an argument, but i've seen way too much literature and seen too many fuel system failures and know too many fuel suppliers to agree with the lube issue, when you maintain a couple million dollars worth of equip you tend to do your research on products
i get 150,000+ miles out of injector pumps and injectors without adding anything to the fuel to "help replace sulfur"
there is more than enough lubricants in the ULSD to lubricate everything.
and there are plenty of others here that get the same results without ever adding anything to their fuel tanks.
the only people that say there is not are the people that sell the additives.
I googled "diesel lubricity study" and there are a lot more of them than I care to read. I bet you can find several to support both views. I'm not running any additives except an occasional fuel filter full of atf or diesel clean.
