Hello, I'm having a problem with my ignition switch. It won't turn and I have to turn the steering wheel for it to finally work. Can anyone help me,Thank you!
Is you steering wheel locked when this happens? When it is you have to turn the steering wheel as far as you can to one side and then turn the key. It should move freely after you do this. If that's not always the case you may need to go further.
if you park on a flat spot and turn the truck off, it should be able to just put the key back in and turn to start. If you are on a slight hill and shut it off, the truck might roll slightly forward or back and put the steering wheel in a bind. Remember, when you shut the key off the wheel is locked into position. It is not uncommon in some parking spots to have to move the wheel a few degrees one way or the other to get clearance in the "LOCK" for the key to be able to move the rod.......... when you get into the truck, see if you can move the wheel left and right for clearance or does it seem to be in a BIND ?
