Probably a stupid question.

My '95 is still leaking a bit of diesel from the bottom of the drain valve. The valve didn't want to sit quite right over the little plastic cone/check ball. Is that cone needed, or can I remove it without a problem, leaving just the drain valve without the check ball?

Been a while since I re did a fuel bowl, but if you didn't get it to seat and and it's leaking, I think you've answered your own question. I hated that thing so much that I re did one and went e fuel.

I pulled the bowl again. Turns out I was wrong, as often happens. It wasn't the check ball, it was just that the O ring had a bit of a nick in it, and it didn't to seal.

Thanks for the reply, by the way.

That will get ya. No problem! Just make sure you use a quality, diesel rated O ring when you replace it.
