My dad has an 01 with the 7.3l powerstroke that is leaking diesel from what looks to be some type of a vent tube. The tube is located behind the tensioning pulley on the front of the block. Does anybody have a clue what could be causing this?
Yep, fuel drain valve. He needs to replace the O-rings in the fuel drain valve, they are -202 size or 1/2" OD, 1/4" ID. You can usually find them at a good parts or hardware store. Or, if you're not in a hurry, check out Diesel O-rings.
EDIT- it's a quick and easy fix- the drain valve is on the back of the fuel bowl, which is front and center of the motor. take out the 4 T25 torx screws, pull the hose loose, replace the O-rings, reassemble. Click for more detailed instructions.

Yeah, what Chase said, I had the same problem, replacing the o-rings fixed it.
Thanks for the info. He was going to call a mechanic to see about dropping it off to figure out what it was but I told him to let me check on here first.
pretty easy fix. i did mine a few months ago. the area's a little tight, i unhooked a couple things that were in the area and made a little more space for my hands. otherwise very basic and inexpensive fix.
