I just took off my drain valve cause it was leaking to replace the o-rings. Well all went well until I took the valve stem out. The first pic is from a PDF document that has the intructions for doing this....
But this is my valve stem... WTH???
When I put it back in with the new o-rings, only the top ball will turn. It feels like it is catching a little then turns fine. I beleive it is the two "stems" that are sliding past each other. I can turn the bottom ball with a small screwdriver if I put it in the hole and give it just a little touch so it seems to be moving freely.
This is my daily driver. I cant have it down tomorrow.
OMG!! Never mind. The piece in the middle apparently shot out with the piece on the botton when they seperated. It was laying on the floor across the kitchen. My BETTER half found it. I knew I married her for a reason. Someones gotta watch out for me.
Billybob, Mine was leaking and did this Friday after getting my o-ring kit from RiffRaff (yep, that's a plug). When I took mine apart, I thought it was broken! Hardest part for me was that I dropped the whole valve assy while removing it and trying to get my hand down into the engine valley I kept pushing it further under the HPOP. Got er done, no drips.
Hell I was contemplating cleaning it real good and super-gluing it back together enough to reinstall it in the closed position. When the bottom half shot out, the ball portion of it went under a chair next to me so I didn't look any further. Glad the wife came over to ask why I was bitching and cussing. She walked into the kitchen and stopped...picked up the sleeve and asked, "Is this part of it?"
DOH!
Not to make light of your instant PANIC ATTACK but I had to sit here and laugh my a$$ off reading this thread.........
Yea yea yea....Laugh it up scooter!
But I admit....it was a panic attck. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do...
Lets see...it's snowing out so taking my bike or the wife's Spitfire to work tomorrow...out of the question.
OK I can take the wife's Grand Vitara...Nope. She is going to visit her mom in the morning. Crap.... Do the part stores carry the valve assembly? Doubt it. OH HELL NOW WHAT!?!?! Hmmm Where is the super glue. I need a drink.
All good now tho. It is only 17 outside and snowing and I left the truck unplugged all night so now it is plugged in and waiting for a hour or so til I go out and try to start it. I already tried a couple of times but it was acting the same as it does when I try to start it on cold days without plugging in.
My next step is to replace the GPR. I don't see all 8 glow plugs going out at the same time. If it gets below 40 at night, she is a bear to start the next day if I don't plug it in.
Did yours have that little plastic ball in the valve? I'm not sure what the function of that thing is, but I innitially forgot to reinstall, had to go back and take it apart again.
Dang Bill!!! you're just having all kinds of fun lately, aren't ya! Glad you got it sorted (with a little bitty help)!
I went to a parts truck to get some stuff for me & a buddy, and decided to grab the fuel bowl as well, mostly for the fittings. It's off an E99 but if someone needs a cap, good valve, or the body itself just let me know. The alternator I got off him the other week was only $60 and good thing too; mine was dying.
So.... what's your next project gonna be? (walks to microwave with popcorn packet... )

Well..... Lets see....
Rear leaf springs.... Already bought new ones, just have to get the truck to the shop to have them replaced. I'm gonna get me some popcorn and watch that one myself. For $80....It's worth it so I don't have to play with it. Otherwise.... New GPR, (Actually looking at them right now. Prolly getting the Stancor). New leafs up front since the OEM ones are kind of flat and I don't have much room left on the driveshaft before it hits bottom.... When the weather clears...Muffler delete. Maybe by then I will also do the intake, gauges and then a DP-Tuner.
