I just bought a 1997 Ford F150 4.6L V8 4x4 manual transmission, extended cab with 184k miles on it. I am trying to find places that offer products to redo everything. From dash to seats, currently it is red and I am not fond of the color plus it shows its age. I found mats or carpet that I can put on the dash but I am looking for the same look as stock. If anyone can help me that would be great, thank you in advance.
I once redid the inside of a truck. I bought one off craigs list that was in a front end accident and totaled. Guy sold the bed and I bought the rest of the truck-------- stripped out the inside and used everything . Was about $800. but I though that was cheaper than investing in all the individual parts.
I'd use a u-pull it scrapyard for a truck that old and try to find one that's pretty nice and intact. You can also call scrapyards that do the teardown, though you'll pay a bit more and interior removal is pretty easy, so why waste the money?
I have reworked(from headliner to floor mats and everything in between) three 1998 interiors in the last few months. If we were close enough I would trade you that red interior for a gray one and do the work.
You can get parts at a pick and pull but a lot of them are broken by people who don't know how to take them apart. For instance, the radio bezel pulls off except for the airbag switch. It has three 5.5mm screws holding it and most people yank it until the screw bosses break off.
As the other post said, the ideal way to do it is to have another complete interior to swap.
I can probably help ease the job if you go decide to go ahead with it.
