new here

Hello everyone. I am new here I just bought a 1979 f100 regular cab step side truck. It is in good shape considering. I am excited to have a truck again it's been a while. I am planning on restoring it as time goes on starting with the bed since that's not to difficult to work on. I have a few electrical issues with the truck and I have been considering since seeing all the splices and bad wireing work done that I would like to start from scratch with completely new wireing harness. Any recomendations? Thanks

Welcome to FTE.

Ford Wiring Harness

Psssst.... earn some street cred and call your rig a "flareside". Ya see, the term "step side" is a GM term as is "fleetside"... Ford calls them "styleside".

Welcome to FTE, wiring...I would rather have a motor blow up that have a wiring issue, replacing a motor is easier. If its just a few elec issues it might be cheaper to repair then replace the complete harness?

Shop around $$$ Painless, Centech (good rep), JBG Wiring Harness-Broncograveyard.com

14 Circuit Ford Wire Harness - KwikWire.com | Electrify Your Ride

Complete Wiring Kit - 1973-79 Ford Truck We Make Wiring THAT Easy!

Get a good set repair of manuals on CD, Chilton and Haynes books are basic manuals and not to in depth as far as wiring.

Get a multimeter, and ask all the questions you want to.

Thanks for the help. I don't like wiring problems especially it's one of the things I do almost everyday for my job. I am tempted to try and repair what is there but it's all over the place. I may just build my own harness. I do alot of that anyway and I could build it the way I want with separate trailer wireing so that would be cool. We will see. Thanks.
