While mucking around the engine compartment cleaning it I looked down and noticed a grease boot had ruptured at a link. Is it possible to replace the boot alone or do I have to replace the whole link? Is that an inner tie rod (that would need to be replaced?) It is on the drivers side of a 2000 F250 SD CC 7.3 4x2. I think the link on the right of the top picture is called a Pitman arm?
This summer I am going to scrape it all down and spray with Rust neutralizer and paint!
If you can find one you can replace it. Not sure where you'd find one though. Might be better off with some sort of flexible tape around it or just keeping it pumped full of grease.
Like Chris said you might having a hard time finding a new one. You might be able to find a good boot off a bad inner tie rod that someone has replaced. Now are you sure that inner tie rod isn't going bad ?
Ok, cool thanks all for the replies. No, it is solid the tie rod does not move (except rotate because it is on a ball joint). I will leave it alone and keep it lubed!
I bought some aftermarket grease boots from AutoZone, can't remember the brand but they were bright red. I replaced one on my drag link. You do have to separate the link to install. The red boots are great, thick and tough. If I find the package with the remaining boot out there in my garage somewhere I will post back.

The pitman arm bolts to the steering box, the drag link bolts to the pitman arm, your boot is the left inner tierod end. and off course you have 2 outer tierod ends, the boots dont really seal they just compress, so over greasing can push the grease out, if you keep it greased you should have no problem, just wipe the mess up, or when your working under there it will be in your hair.
