Alright guys, I've had an issue twice with the truck stuck in park. Both times I pulled battery cables and it reset itself. This time is different; the truck is stuck in park, the chime doesn't work when you open the door, the screen flashes tire pressure monitor fault and the traction control light blinks on and off. Not only that, the radio does not work, nor does the heat/air. I've got to believe with that many things its the body control module gone bad? Any other ideas, suggestions before I take it to the dealer?
Truck is a 2010 crew cab with the 5.4 btw
Thanks in advance!
How old is the battery, if its original, this is about how long they last, a battery on its way out can do weird things to the electrical system, also, I would check all of your ground points and make sure they are clean/tight. welcome to the forum, let us know what you figure out, thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, Andy. How many miles do you have on your truck? Come back and tell us how the trip to the dealer went; I'll stick around this thread in case you need help after receiving a diagnosis.
Alright ladies n gents. Took it to the dealership.. Finally. Weather hasn't been very cooperative and the technician traced the problem to a loose connection in the ECM with about 10 different wire tie ins. $307 later I'm back on the road. Guess I got off cheap in the grand scheme of things. Thanks, Andy

Where is the connection located? I've similar electrical issues for over 2 years. Shift lever locked, keyless entry does not work, memory does not work, interior lights do not come on when opening the door. Start the truck and the instrument lights are flashing, shifter locked. Had to disconnect the battery cable for a few minutes and everything is back to normal. Told the dealer about it when I had the truck in for service and basically got a blank look. It has happened no less that 4 times. Also noticed the headlights flash every few minutes. The truck is in the dealer now because the battery has gone dead twice this fall after the truck sits for a few days. The battery is only about a year old, but the electrical issues started before the new battery and are continuing. Dealer said...well if there is not a fault code, there is not much we can do. Not very impressed by that comment. I've found out more about the electrical issues on this Ford forum than I am sure the service techs at the dealer know. I have a Ford extended warranty, but dealer said if they can not find anything to repair, I am going to have to pay for the troubleshooting. Nice warranty. Probably going to have to figure this out myself, record it on video and take it to the dealer. I can not trust the truck.

Hi MNGolfer,
I want to do what I can to turn this situation around. What's your truck's model year and mileage? Is it still at the dealer today? I'll start researching ways to help.
Truck is 2010 F150 Crew Lariat. Approximately 92K miles. VIN is 1FTFW1EV0AKA65519 Dealer is Freeway Ford in Bloomington, MN. Contacted the dealer service manager this morning and he said the truck started right up after sitting the weekend and there were not any fault codes. Told them I check back later in the day. Appreciate very much any help you provide. Really like the truck.

Thanks for the quick reply, Donn. I'll escalate this to your regional customer service manager so they can assist. Since you don't have many posts, you may not have the ability to PM yet. If that's the case, send an email to custserv@ford.com with your details. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; be sure to put my name ("Crystal') in the subject line. Post here once you've sent the email so I'll know to go looking for it.

Crystal..... I posted an Email with a history of the electrical issues. Thanks again for your help. I hope this all gets resolved.
Good afternoon,
I recently purchased a 2013 Ford F-150 Ford Supercrew from Reynolds Ford in Norman, OK. It had approximately 36500 miles on it when I purchased it. That should have been a red flag but once I drove the truck I supposed the ride and everything clouded my vision. Anyway the second day I had it, I went to start it one morning and the starter would not do anything. The middle instrument on the dash was wigged out and going crazy. Since this was Christmas Eve the dealer told me they were closing at noon and the service department would not reopen until the following Monday. I told them I would call back Monday to have a tow truck come get my truck. The next day I tried to start the truck and low and behold it started right up and everything was as it should have been. So I took it on in Saturday even though their service department was basically closed and left it to avoid having to call a tow truck. I got a call Monday afternoon from a service advisor and he informed me that it had a bad body control module that they would have to order because they did not stock them. A week later I got a call from Reynolds saying my truck was ready to pickup. I have driven approximately 1000 miles since then with no problems what so ever until this morning. I left home and drove about 15 miles, went inside a business and came back about 20 minutes later and it would not start just like it was before they replaced the BCM. I sat there awhile trying it about every 15 minutes or so for over an hour but still no luck. I was going through the owners manual and found a card for Roadside Service with a phone number to call. Also on the card was a person's name and phone number written on there. I figured this was the original owner so I decided to call them to find out if they had ever had this problem. I got in touch with a very nice lady and she said "why do you think we would trade a vehicle off with only 36000 miles on it?" She said they had had this same trouble with the truck since the day they drove it home from the dealer and knew it was getting ready to go out of warranty and decided to trade it off for a Chevrolet I might add. She said they purchased the truck from Seth Wadley Ford in Pauls Valley, OK and had had in back to the dealership multiple times but they had never been able to locate the problem because they were never able to duplicate the problem. She said sometimes it would go a couple of months or so without any problems and then it might do it two or three days in a row and usually when it did you could wait an hour or two and then it would start and run like it should.
Now here is my question. I filmed a video of the instrument panel wigging out when it does this. I have showed it to both Reynolds Ford and then David Stanley Ford in Midwest City this morning and both dealers say they have never seen a truck do this before. I can't believe that I have the only Ford truck in the United States that has had this problem so I am hoping that you or someone in your department can give me a clue as to what could be wrong with the truck so I could give the info to a dealer and get it fixed. I saw on the internet a post from a person that had the same problem as I have and they said their problem was some bad connections in the electrical plug the plugs into the BCM. They said the dealer told them that in 2013 that was a bad solder job in this plug and they had seen it before. Supposedly they replaced the plug and everything was fixed. I can't believe that if this is a common problem Ford has not issued a recall on this or why my local dealers have never ran into this before and would be familiar with it. But I am also well aware that you can't believe everything you read on the internet.
Anyway I am hoping that you can help me in some way to solve this problem. I am 66 years old and have never driven anything but a Ford and have been well please with them until this one. I love the truck but can't deal with something that is not reliable.
I am going to send you a You Tube LInk that someone posted of a 2013 F250 that has the same symptoms as mine so if you are not familiar with it maybe you can see what I am talking about.

Welcome to the forum, Lumberbum; thank you for your loyalty to Ford. I'm not a technician, so I don't have access to information regarding common concerns or repair procedures. Dealerships typically have to replicate a concern before they can proceed with a repair. Are you having any issues with the instrument cluster or experiencing difficulty starting your truck now? How many miles are on it currently?
Thanks for the reply back Crystal. Yes I am having problems now. It did it twice yesterday and then this morning it wouldn't start initially and then about 20 minutes later it started just like it should. It has around 37500 miles on it but as I posted in the previous post I found out that the truck has been doing this off and on since it was brand new. The couple that had it originally were in their late 70s and she said they just couldn't deal with something that was unreliable any longer. I am beginning to understand as you never know when you turn that key whether it is going to start or not.
