tjdad62, can I ask what brand/model is your gas filler cover?
I bought it from CPP and I wish I had got one that was wider. It is a rather tight fit when twisting off the gas cap. I believe mine is 3 inches wide and 5 inches long. Other than that it is a nice piece.
I read Horkey mentioned earlier. I drove down to his shop last summer. Great guy and the wood samples I saw in the office seemed really nice. I even got to take a peek at his 55 F250 that he fixed up. Lots of fun.
Finally finished my wood from midwest early ford. Wood was nice. 80 hours of finishing. Water based tint, 3 coats of epoxy top and bottom, 3 coats of marine varnish top and bottom. A final wet sand and buff like car paint.
I bought a complete bed from Northern Classics. The package came with oak bed wood.
After some sanding and three coats of oil based marine spar varnish it looks pretty good. I do use it....not for loads of rocks and gravel, but light hauling...and occasionally haul my RC airplanes to the flying field. I did varnish all sides with a steel wool rub-down between coats. It is four years old now and still looks good.
