Dump bed kit

anybody have one or know someone that has one of the dump bed kits for the factory bed? if so what brand, how easy to install, satisfied with it?
ive been looking for awhile but cant make up my mind. couple of the kits seem a little cheap looking, others on the high side. doesnt seem to be a good looking product for a reasonable price. course whats new these days.
anyway, i would appreciate any info.

I installed one on my Chevy 3/4 about 15 yrs ago but I didn't want to use the stock bed so I made a flat bed dump out of it. At that time I think I paid around $550.00 for the kit but I also thing that they have gone way up.

There is a magazine published for tow trucks/auto wrecking, that is where I saw mine advertized. Somewhere in Texas as I recall.

The installation was simple enough and it still works well today. It's a single ram with what appears to me a starter motor mated tp a pump with it's own reservoir attached.

I'll look around and see if I can find any info. If you do find one PM me and I'll give you some pit falls to watch out for re: the install.

Also, Google "Dump Bed Kits" they are all over the place as well on FleaBay. You are now looking at $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 for the kit.

Yikes!
i also remember someone posting a link to one of the "other" forums... with a guy that sold these that was a complete A**hat. defending a crap kit, and overcharging for "the best"...
moral? buyer beware.

i have already found 3or4 different companies, the prices range from 1000-3000 bucks and each company says theirs is the best, of course. that is why i would like to find someone who has actually purchased one. it would be handy to have, just dont want to waste money on a crap kit.

Do you know how to weld? this shouldnt be hard. the hardest part would be mounting the hydraulic ram.

yeah i can weld, unless some one can point me to easy to source parts, i would rather have a kit. dont have the time to fab up all the metal parts without a pattern or drawing. the hydraulic part is easy, i have a friend that is part owner of a hydraulic shop, its the scissor/brackets/bracing parts that are the key. unless i had a pattern or could just get those parts, a kit would probably be best way.
