my 88 is a rare one of a kind survivor, because it has 494,000+ miles on it and the engine has never been taken apart.
i guess that means i should be able to get $65,000 for it because it also had the indestructible 7.3 engine and C6 trans in it.

OP's CL truck seems WAYYYYY overpriced. $9K should get you a much newer truck in better condition.

Beautiful. Lafawnda is quite a looker. You picked her up for $2K? Now I'm feeling sad for myself.

Truth is, I would have gone for a newer/nicer truck, but I really wanted antique tags on an '89 or older. Saves a lot of money over the years here in Virginia.

yeah thats a real nice truck there (Lafawnda.)
here in Maine we can have the antique plates and on top of that, you wouldn't need safety inspection with a vehicle tagged as such.
the draw back here? it renders the vehicle pretty much useless.as it would then be just a few hundred miles per yr or some such thing and just for special events/parades.

you have no such restrictions for antique plates in Virginia?

here in joisey, antique plates(QQ tags) are only issued if the vehicle is 25 years old.
no daily driving, and limited to 2500 miles per year.

Nope, similar restrictions.
2500 miles per year, no more than 250 miles from home, special events, can't commute to work in it, must have a regularly licensed vehicle.

BUT, you're allowed to drive it for TESTING the operation of the vehicle or for LUBRICATION (as in, the vehicle needs to be driven occasionally to keep the gas fresh and the seals lubricated), which allows some pleasure driving.

I have multiple vehicles and have no problem with those limitations. I wanted the truck for fun, to carry big stuff now and then (I have a lot of motorcycles, plus runs to Home Depot), and to have another project to play with.

The pluses are one time registration fee of $50 for life (vs. $45 per year), no annual inspections ($17 safety, $25 emissions), and no property tax to the county (would be about $50/year for this vehicle). And if I paint her and insure as an antique, I'll get better coverage for half the cost.
