Here is how mine are rigged. I have one for the mains, and one for sub. AT Two amps, 1000 watts for the mains, and 600 watts for the sub
How's the heat control with the seats sitting right on top of them? I pound the hell out of mine and the amp gets fairly warm, however I have a bench seat and more clearance room since I mounted it under the middle seat on the floor with small spacers for air flow underneath as well.
Not embarrased to say I'm jealous. If you don't mind me asking, what type of cost is there with that setup?
Based off them being Xplods (nothing wrong with that at all for amps, not a fan of their subs though) I'd say around $120-140 for the 1000w 4-ch, and $100-125 for the 600 mono.
Amps are usually the thing that people forget about for pricing. You can roughly figure an amp will run 1 3/4 to 2 times the price of the speaker(s) you'll be driving with it.
Personally, my Phoenix Gold I got in a steal off CraigsList from some kid that had wrecked his rice-a-roni import. It's been discontinued for a long while (Octane 15.0:1), snagged it for $50. It's been pounding my subs for three years without ever missing a beat.
On a side note, Kicker amps are hard to beat, they'll always make more power than advertised - every single birth sheet is over the advertised specs.
Well, I finally got the rear most set of speakers installed. So I've finally got all 6 of the factory speakers replaced. But, that ate up most of my day removing panels and such. So still no amps or subs yet. I did get the speaker wires tapped for the subs though. I'm still waiting on a few odds and ins that I ordered to show anyway. Hopefully, within the next week or so I'll have it done. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.
Amps and sub's make all the difference in the world.
I brought all the power through DS kick/sill plates, and signals back on PS. Then under carpet to amps. Speaker leads fed back out similarly, but DS stayed on DS.
Over the years my sub amp has cut off on thermal a few times. Amps screwed to AL channel mounted to the floor, for a little clearance. Typically it's summer, both seats folded down, and been pounding it out for an hour+.
I finally got the amps and subs installed! I ran the power wire through one of the grommets in the driver's side firewall. I used the fuse box and a mini "add a fuse" to run the remote wire. I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance.
