Ok so I'm rebuilding the doors on my crew. Adjusting window, reapplying weatherstripping, etc. did both the front doors and they turned out great. Gonna wire in some new speakers while I'm at it.
The problems is the rear doors have the extra sheet metal underneath the plastic panels. Are these safe to remove? I'm talking about the black piece of sheet metal and the other white piece. I'm afraid I'm gonna take these off and everything gonna fall apart.
I also cut my pinky shutting my drivers door this morning since I haven't put the panels back in yet. I bled for a good hour.
Once you take the panel off the window will slide down as you pull the panel down, when you can see where the Regulator meets the Window you just slide the Regulator off the end of the Channel. Will make sense when you see it.
Concerning aligning, install your new seals/felts/etc then adjust the window with the Track, then install in the reverse of removal and the Regulator and Panel will align itself upon putting all the screws in.
I'll see if I took any pictures with mine apart as now I'm 2nd guessing if the Regulator is attached to the Panel, it's been a WHILE since I took them apart.
Yeah the regulators are attached to the panel, bolted in with I think 7/16 bolts. I've already got the front doors apart so Ive been able to see regulator and stuff. Just didn't see why the back doors would have that. So I figured I'd ask here to make sure I didn't break anything lol. Thanks a lot for the help!
Just walked out and took a picture. They are mounted like that because they are Front Regulators that are turned around, so Front Right and Rear Left are the same.
Another question. Am I supposed have a spring on both doors? I'm talking about the spring that goes in between the window crank and the little thing the crank screw on to. My right side has one but the left doesn't.
