the f150 had a big problem with windshields leaking on the gem module. Its the reason my 97 wouldn't go into 4wd. It was a one year only part and cost big money. Traded it that way for this Excursion. Sad to hear stories along the same lines in the these also.
I had a similar problem with my Excursion. The wire from the overdrive cancel switch rubbed through on the steering column. It then blew a fuse. Fast anti-theft blinking light. Ford guy looked at it and couldn't find the problem but told me about the OD wire. He replaced the fuse and back to normal for a few days until one day I put it in reverse and I had no throttle. I shut off the truck and checked the fuse. It was blown. I took the plastic covering the column off and followed the wire until I had found where it had rubbed through and shorted when I moved the shifter. I wrapped the wire with tape and never had a problem again.
Not bad at all considering its the 1st breakdown in 15 years......
Truly an understatement! If Ford could bottle that and put it in every car that rolled off the line they would suffer a little the first 10 years or so but after that everyone else would shut down
Update on EX: Got it back from FORD. $455.00 less than quoted. YEA!!! Got home took key out of ignition and it still dingged like the key was in with the door open. What gives? All seems well but its bugging me because it did not do it before. Planning to call FORD Monday.

Can you turn the ignition without the key in it? Those things get loose all the time and just a slight turn will cause it to ding without the key in it.
