This video explains it better than I can type. I noticed the system on my 6.2L early on since I can hear it operate (or at least shut off).

I think the coldest I've started mine is at -40F. It cranked slow, but it started right away and idled cold with no problems. That was true air temp, and not "wind chill". And that was with the block heater not plugged in.

Glad you got yours fixed.

I did not speak with them directly, wife picked up truck. I have started it every morning (4 mornings) since I got it back and it starts quickly and runs smoothly. Temps have been in the low to mid 30s, which was aproblem. No warm up period needed. Im keeping my fingers crossed, but so far so good. Good luck
Glad to hear that your truck is starting better! I went to my dealer today and had them print me an exploded diagram of every manifold vacuum tube on this engine. I thought maybe I was missing something, but I wasn't. There are only two lines-one for the crankcase vent, and one for the PCV. They are both hard plastic lines wrapped in a kind of foam protective shielding. I don't see how one of those could possibly have been kinked or pinched??? Do you think you could call your dealer and ask what specific hose was pinched? Honestly, I don't see how it could have been a manifold vacuum line-maybe a different vaccum line?

Your post got me thinking though about maybe a vacuum leak that I am not hearing. So today I sprayed some carb cleaner around the vacuum lines and fittings with the engine running but I didn't find anything. At least not anything obvious.

THANKS!

This is very interesting. I watched this like 4 times to understand. Then I went to fordparts.com to look for air injection system components. I found the sub category "air injection system" under the main category of "emission control" but there are zero components in that sub category.

I have replaced my vapor consister purge valve already (a suspect evaporative system part with a high failure probability)

Can you take a picture of the part that you can hear operating during warm up? I'd like to figure out exactly what part it is???

I used an arrow to show the air pump. What I hear is not the pump but the solenoid that closes the path into the exhaust. I can't point to that part.

Hmmm, what year and model truck do you have? Your engine looks different. I have a 2011 f-350 6.2l.
