I have a 56 f100 with the in-cab tank and it has started to leak, oddly enough. There is a local guy who has a stash of these old trucks for parts and I wanted to verify that all in-cab tanks from '53-'56 are the same, as I was told a long time ago. If I can find a clean tank for cheap from the truck guy, I'll just buy it from him.

Thank you very much.
The 1956 in cab tanks were different from the 53-55, but you may be able to adapt one.
53-55 F100s tanks were mounted under the cab on the running board brackets drivers side. Keep in mind these tanks are 60 years old and have probably sat with old gas in them for extended amounts of time. I was going to have mine boiled out (wasn't leaking but had crud/rust in the bottom) and was told that boiling it out may CAUSE it to start leaking. Several vendors have new tanks for $250 up.
