Dumping my no-name chip!

I just ordered a 6 POS from TDP.
I really liked my old chip but from what I am reading I will be more happy with the TW setup.
I listed all my mods in the notes.. We shall see.

I've been trying different chips from different tuners for ten years now. I'm not happy yet.

Who do you have nick?
Glenn has some from all I know.
I just don't see how when an owner such as us pays a tuner and you have specific requests that they can't just do what you ask? I know Glenn has shift point concerns with one but not another yet no power from others in certain tunes.wish you could go out with the fiver and a tuner in the pass seat and just line it out once and for all. I can't even imagine that frustration.

haha, Aaron said it well. I'm hoping that this small old brain of mine can learn this AE and give the tuner some good info. My first attempt at data logging went well. My second attempt failed and I'm not sure what I did wrong. I think this is helpful:

Morning, I too am having some trouble from my DP tunes, the stock I feel is fine except I know it's def not stock, more like modified stock. Hi idle works as it should, 65 tow feels fine and doesn't sky the EGTs, 80dd makes good power and 100play feels slightly different/more aggressive. The problem lies in the drive train lash I experienced when I first installed it. It was IMHO not tolerable on/off throttle; I talked to Jody about it and in one of my threads on here I mentioned it. I ended up manipulating the tab on the accelerator pedal which took away most of the on/off ****** but now on decel It's more pronounced. This condition in relative to the tune I have selected, if stock was infact stock I'm almost sure this condition wouldn't exist. When I talked to Jody he basically told me I couldn't get exactly what I wanted. He said the fueling could start down low and WOT would be before the pedal was fully depressed or the fueling could come on later in the pedal travel and I'd have to use 100% of the travel to get full fuel/timing ie, all the power; but I couldn't have it both ways. Ideally I'd like to see gradual power starting from down low (eliminating the lash/****** I've described)building to WOT ether @ WOT on the carpet or more ideally a couple inches prior to on the mat... Is this too much to ask? It seems as explained to me that they (tuners) can start their power down low escalating to full power prior to full pedal travel or start the fueling further into the pedal travel escalating to full power on the carpet.... I'd love to hear the experience you fellas have had with this in your ZF trucks or just in general your understanding of what I've described here. Thanks guys..

I feel you on the pedal deal. My truck is wot about 3/4 throttle. All the way down it feels softer on power.I guess its all about tps vs IVs timing ?

I wonder if its difficult to tame because of how crude the system is, for example; what If I had efuel and a t500 or Honey Badger Jr would that make the truck less twitchy, less peaky and in general have more progressive fueling and timing?

I just read this thread on "TheDieselStop" which contained this quote.. Course this on on an auto trans... http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...3/#post3497145

"I have experience with both. I will saw php is less smokey and the pedal has more of a linear feel to me. The dp tunes ive experienced have a very touchy pedal and half pedal was pretty much full throttle.

this is my opinion only. thought id stir the pot

I think you nailed it correy. This is a pretty primitive system and getting onto 20 year old technology. Imagine what they'll say about an iPhone in 20 years lol. That combined with the inconsistencies in mods probably makes it a tough thing to tame.

I left a tiny bit of 'lag' in the pedal and its fine that way. My TW chip pours smoke out just barely touching the pedal, embarsing when your in traffic. As far as WOT before you hit the floor, IDK. I'll have to get a butt feel for that!
