getting ready to purchase a backup camera system for my new 2015 f250 xlt. On my last truck (Tundra) the wiring was already there I just had to tap into it and install cheap camera in the tailgate handle and put a cheap monitor in the overhead sun glasses holder, the entire project cost me $38. Sure it's probably not the best quality but it served my purposes perfectly (hooking up to my travel trailer)
So I'm wondering if the same wiring may be present in the Superduty?
ok, after some searching it seems there is at least some wiring built into the "standard" harness.
what I need to know is:
1. looks like there is a plug in the back by the spare tire, what harness do I need to hookup an aftermarket camera at the rear end.
2. I just have the plain old rear view mirror without the compass, where does the camera harness terminate on the inside of the truck? is it up by the sunglass holder? behind the dash?
here are some part number and prices for the 2015 tail gate camera
Tailgate harness - FC3Z-14A442-A $11 + tax local Ford parts dept
Ford Camera - EC3Z-19G490-A $84 + shipping from Tasca Ford
FORD OEM Bezel - AL3Z-19H511-A $26 with free shipping on eBay
Ford Script - CL3Z-9942528-B $28 + shipping from Tasca Ford
You can pick up the video in the plug on the passenger side kick panel. Connector # C265. White w/green strip is video (+) pin 16, Brown w/violet strip is video (-) pin 15, and ground/shield is Black pin 17
Or connector C264, behind right hand side of instrument panel, near right A-pillar. White w/green strip is video (+) pin 4, Brown w/violet strip is video (-) pin 9 and black is ground/shield pin 8.
The above info is from the 2015 Ford Service DVD. If not correct, blame Ford.
The camera is water proof as sold. Mounts directly into the bezel listed above. The bezel replaces the one in the tail gate now.
Thanks again Larry!
so if i purchase the above parts, I'm good all the way from the rear to the front kick panel or instrument cluster, from there I just run wires up to an aftermarket mirror/display in the visor? or am I better off going with a ford mirror/harness from the kick panel?
that would put me right around $300 for all the parts. Do you know if there is a OEM harness that gets me from the passenger side kick panel to the mirror, or am I better off just running the wires down and soldering directly?

Yes, there is a factory harness that routes the video to the mirror.
Looking at the mirror you have scoped out, I doubt you need this harness. The harness with your selected mirror routes power and video down to the dash level. I think you would have to find a way to connect the factor video wires to the RCA plugs of the mirror you have selected.

Got it! was hoping maybe I could find the pinout for the factory harness plug and solder the mirror wires directly in. Found this, but not sure if it's what I'm looking for:
