POR15 seems to always be mentioned however being in the south I have never faced the salt that you guys play in.

Wasn't your truck FROZE to the ground when you had it towed? Then it was down for even more time because the steering box was broken?

Does sound to driven to me.

back the the OP question.

I am sure you don't have much salt down your way, but up here we do. I Have done this on 2 different trucks with GREAT success.

1. take off everything you possibly can

2 powerwash(I use purple power and Heated power washer)

3. sandblast everything to white metal

4. Use POR15 as a primer

5. while POR15 is still wet, I topcoat with Tractor black.

My truck gets used all winter. This truck got treatment above and is now in its 3rd season. Still looks like the day I did it. Time consuming, YES. but anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT

What on gods earth are you talking about? YOU need to get your crap straight before you say it. MY truck has NEVER been towed. MY truck has never been FROZE to the ground. MY truck NEVER had a broken steering box. Get things straight before you say them. I use my truck every day. It does NOT sit or stay parked for very long. In the past 8 months since I converted it to 4x4 it has not sat more than 3 days at a time. Kinda hard to let a truck that is essential to running a farm sit wouldn't you say?

My bad, wrong steve.

But anyway. 3 months of service is NOT long enough to say how well a paint job will last

All good. But for me it was a cheap option to keep my frame from rusting More. If it starts to peel or chip then I can just scratch it down real quick and paint over it. It'll work that way until I can properly get it sandblasted then do it the best way
