heater core replacement

I just did the heater core on my truck. What a breeze. Other than a few scrapes and cuts I had no issues. WAY easier than the wife's Grand Am I did this Fall. That sucked! I just wish their was a high quality core available for out trucks.

I'm out in the country and all I had access to use regular 50/50 Prestone coolant. I filled the new heater core with the regular ex-life 50/50 AF not coolant rated for diesels. Will this be an issue? The truck is only used for plowing and likely will only be used about 10 hours total until Spring. I have to replace the rad in the Spring so I'm changing the block heater etc. all at the same time. All the coolant will be drained then and likely replaced.
Thanks.

Realistically? No, it'll be just fine. You're mixing with whatever else you have in there -- hopefully ELC or regular with SCAs -- at a slight dilution. It might reduce the 'usable' life from several years to several -1 years, but oh well. And really, you could run straight water in the system for a couple of years without feeling the effects, assuming no freezing.

I found a copper heater core for mine. It was a motorcraft part from rock auto. Not sure which truck you were talking about though.
