Heater Core

Anybody have problems with thier heater cores leaking. I replaced mine about 3-4 years ago I replaced it with a new one. Now it is leaking again. WTF
Just wondering if this is an issue or if this is an issue happening from something else that may be happening.
1990 Bronco 302 (5.0) AOD tranny about 70k on the engine and about 200k on the Tranny. Need anything else?
Thanks again

just be glad you don't own a 96 or later mustang. You have ot take the whole dash out to get to the heater core. Heater cores seem to have a problem with failing. What kind of coolant are you running? if it's straight water then thats your problem. Coolant carries rust inhibitors, and if coolant isn't used in a twenty percent or greater(usually 50/50 is most common) concentration then rust will form in the cooling system causing the premature failure of cooling system parts. Also change the coolant once a year to maintain the qualities of the coolant.

What kind of heater core did you get? aluminum or copper? Try switching to a different style of core. if using aluminum try copper or vice versa.

I used to have bad luck with the heater core on my F-100. Even after I flushed it all the time. I have only had to replace the one in my Bronco once. I have had the best luck with the 50/50 as well.

Make sure the rubber/foam is still on the mating surface of your heater core box as well as in the fire wall - vibration can kill almost anything over time.

Can you see what the fault is in the heater core? Cracking, core failure, or anything visible?

Have not pulled it apart yet to see where it is leaking. I only get that kind of time on the weekends. I believe it is just a stock copper core

Oh yes I have had to deal with the whole dash pull apart once. Thank goodness the bronco is a 15 - 30 minute job
