2015 F 350 MPG

On my 3rd F 350 ['09, '11, '15] CC, LB Dually.

My '15 is a King Ranch (finally), wife has always nixed the KR in the past, but I said this is most likely my last truck, at my age I don't have a lot of truck or trucks left in me...LOL.

The pro's:
Surprised at the overall improvement, that added up to a whole new truck feel. In a word: Refined, or maybe Polished, but its like getting an old pair of shoes resoled improved fit, same comfort...

New is the 860 lbs of torque and its a WOW! Even tho its less than a 10% gain in power, the mid range, hills with a load, passing etc is amazing that only 60 lbs more of torque shines so brightly. It does impact your driving with better and more comfort passing on the highway etc. My avg highway driving speed is as always 60-65 mph under load and 70-75 without.

Love everything about it....except!

Con's: MPG. My '11 with 38k miles was day in day out 13.9 avg. Interstate with no winds fighting me could see 17+, toss on a load [6000 lbs in the bed) and figure on 11.9-12.1.

I take trip, its a regular for me, from home in San Antonio to Austin Tx, to the same places, no change in stops or where I stay etc...can we say 10.8 overall, I am down a solid 2 mpg on the same exact trip. Worse, around town and short trips down I 10 from home into SA (COSTCO run) I am only seeing mid 12 max. COSTCO run will give me a mid 16's mpg on my '11.

I am retired and my driving does not change much, my camper weighs in at just above 6,000 wet and nothing there has changed, this is the 3rd truck it rode in.

Total mileage as of this writing is 533.

While I did not expect much if any improvement in mpg, I did not expect an almost 20% decrease in mpg...

I wouldn't worry about the MPG at 500 miles. Put about 5K miles on it, then do a MPG check.

My 2015 250 6.7 with 1500mi does the following.

Easy driving with interstate below 70mph = >19mpg
Mixed driving with interstate up to 75 and some turbo workouts = 16-17mpg
Towing 4klbs trailer + RZR4 @ 65-70mph Interstate = 14mpg
Towing same setup 75mph = 13-13.5mph

Regens do kill your overall milage, if you regen-ing often you will see poor milage. Luckily my morning commute is 15mi so the truck gets up to full temperature on every drive.

Your numbers are about where mine was right off the lot. ( 2015 KR DRW/3.73 gears..6.7L PSD) I now have just short of 6000 miles on mine and it is getting a little better. It was up. Around 14.5 on the lie o meter, then I hooked up my 38' enclosed gooseneck and made about a 100 mile trip and knocked it down to 13.8. But.....when I am pulling either my GN, or my 41' fifth wheel...WOW!
The last oil burner I had was a 1983 GMC half ton that I bought new, and if my memory serves me correctly, the best I could get with that was around 18 average, and that was a hell of a lot less truck.
And as a side note, it seems like everyone else can always get better fuel mileage than I can????? Mebee I have too much fun!!!
So, with all that.....dont get too discouraged yet!

got to know the rear drive ratio if we are going to compare past and present trucks. your previous truck might have been rear gear ratio different. there are pros and cons to changing the gearing...but if your max tow load is 6000lbs, then you should look into it.

Both same at 3.73. 6000 is not my max tow load, I was referring to payload, my camper wet is right at 6,000 max, but more like about 5,000 lbs driving weight. Both trucks were ordered and maxed out for tow/haul weights. I don't tow much more than about 12,000 lbs max.

Don't forget that we're in the middle of winter. In many places you're running winter blend fuel, which knocks off 1-2 MPGs right off the bat.

But then again I have heard of the 15s getting slightly less fuel economy on average than the 11-14. I'll find out first hand when I take delivery of a new one sometime next month.

I knew gasoline have various blends, but did not know that about diesel, interesting.

Good on you, I think you will like it. Even my wife, who only rarely drives my trucks, noticed the difference between the two. Here I use the term polished??? It just feels better, drives better, can not pin point exactly what but I am impressed...

Diesel fuel gels when it gets cold.

I have a 15 F250 SRW and just did a cross country trip with my 34 ft. Montana and averaged 11.2 for the entire 12,000 mile trip. I have the 6.7 Lariat trim truck whith most of the bells and whistles. super cab short bed. I get better millage on the highway but around town with all the stop lights its hard to get more than 11/13 MPG's. I currently have about 26,000 miles and love the truck. I have the 3.31 rear gear with the limited slip and locking rear end. I have no problem towing the 5th wheel anywhere. The wind hasn't been a factor ether. I feel very save in this truck.

its NEW... everything is Tight... engine/transmission,bearings. and type of tires.

give it 10,000 miles then compare.

comparing NEW to broken-in is NOT FAIR... to the new truck.

Enjoy...

most of us truck lovers will never know a New Truck. but I used to work on New Trucks.

and this F 250 will be my last truck/vehicle as well
