I-Beam Mounting Questions

I've removed the front end from my '65 F100 doing the disk brake upgrade. On my '65 front end there are "J" type hooks the attach directly to each I-Beam. On the '73 front end that I am installing there are no mounting holes for these "J" hooks. Will this present a problem once the disk brake upgrade is completed?

Next, it took about 3 hours but I was able to remove the old I-beam bushings. Can anyone offer advise on installing the new bushings. I'm sure
I wont be able to driven in with a hammer.

Thanks in advance!!!!

John I can't picture the J hook, I dropped the I-Beams from my 66 moved my 76 donor beside of it, dropped it's beams slid them under the 66 and bolted them up.

I'd try scrapping the area where the bushings fit and maybe lubbing them well before putting the new ones in, but I expect some pounding will be required.

The "J" hooks (stops) were only used on 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's.

Radius Arm Mounting Question

OK, so using some shade tree engineering, I finally got the I-beam bushings installed. The I-beams are mounted and the shocks and springs are bolted up but not torqued in place. The problem I have now is the inability to get the radius arms bolted up. I can get one side installed but not the other side.

So, here is my question...Can I loosen the radius arm bolts where they mount to the I-beams in order to get the radius arms installed or will that open a can of worms and make things worse???

Thanks in advance for all your feedback!!!

Not sure I am following your sequence, but on the ones I have done I mounted the frame end of the radius arms first, mounted the I beams to frame, then installed the bolts that connect radius arm to I-beam. Everything was left loose until all connections were made.
If the arm and beam are already connected and the spindle is on; then it would seem you would roll it under until radius arm stud is in frame mount, then pick up I beam pivot and attach to frame.

Thanks Gavin,
on the donor front end I have the radius arm to i-beam bolts are rusted tight. I did not remove or loosen the radius arm to I-beam bolts but will try to loosen them. I didn't want to create new issues by breaking them loose.

Stick the bushing in a cold freezer for a few hours, or until your ready to install.
