I was looking at this thread and decided to ressurect it rather than start a new one. Going to be doing the usual a lot of you guys have already done. I have my injectors at Jim's place already, my HPOP coming from Joey, and the Banks IC I will order tomorrow. I didn't want to drop the coin, but sold a few things and have it, so here we go! This should all be done in the next 2-3 weeks, so hopefully I won't be disappointed in the improvements. Again, this truck should be around for a long time, so doing like Darin, Bill, Aaron, Travis, etcetera and going a little at a time. So far, at least I have a trans that can handle it!
Yes! Thanks Gabe...forgot to mention those. I'll be sending the TS to Gearhead. You guys have any input on this? Thought about Tony W, but I need the cleaner burning tunes so I decided on GH.
Hopefully it will cool down for you to work Byron.
It's funny you say that Glenn. It's 65* here this morning, which is is unseasonable for here. I'll be down at Travis's place for injector install. Shouldn't be too bad I hope!
Oh, almost forgot...coolant filtration going in tomorrow as well! Finally getting my aZZ in gear on this stuff. I like what Darin said about it taking 5 years to get where he wanted to go. I have had this truck 2.5 years and plan on keeping it for quite some time. I always think about that before dropping the amount of $$ it takes to get one where it needs to be. When I see the price of the modern diesels, not to mention all of the BS people have to deal with as a result of EGRs and DPFs, no thank you. I am guessing I would even get a new long block when this one kicks it, but that shouldn't be for some time. I am at 230k now, but hoping I can get this one to 500k.
My TW 140 tune isn't any more smokey than any other extreme tune I have which is 2 different php extreme tunes and one powerstruck extreme tune. Actually none of my tunes smoke unless I really lug it with the trailer on. WOT runs are clean. I suppose it would smoke some if I did a WOT run from a dead stop, but I never do. Of course it's a little different setup than you have. I always thought that gearhead was sometimes a little down on power with their tunes?? Thought I read that a few times. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, it happens.

Thanks for the input Darin! I had a long talk with Travis today about all of this. I am getting pretty stoked about some time in the Hill Country with bros and wrenching for a weekend. Talked to CX Racing today and I'll have my IC by Monday or Tuesday. Here's how it's gonna go down:
Intercooler by CX Racing
HPOP T500
Stage 1 install
Tuning by Gearhead or TW, not sure on that one yet...
I gotta decide by tomorrow. I'll contact Tony tonight and see what he can do. This is gonna be good!
On Edit: I can't believe I said "cooler" filtration in the previous post...dumbaZZ me. Fixed it.
Soouds like a good plan, Byron. That's how I did it. One step at a time. I Hate to say it, but I can see the desire for a bigger air pump in your not so distant future..
I will say my power struck tunes dd tune is smoke & power free.
My dd Andrew tune makes power and smokes like a steel plant.
Go for the powa!!
I hear ya Aaron...that may be why I go with Tony! We'll see!
