Went out to the street races this weekend with my old 71 Ford F-100 "farm truck" to look for some prey. Never really attended on doing any racing since the local cops are putting the pinch on illegal racing. But after dividing off from the main group of ~75 cars twice, 20 of us found a nice secluded area. Some of the vehicles consisted of M5 Beamer, early 70's Olds, early 70's 350 Nova, ~00 Camaro Z28, and mid 80's modded Chevy 1/2 ton. After a few runs, the quickest car were determined. The order sat from slowest to quickest, the Olds, Camaro, 1/2 ton, and then the Nova. The only thing that was still unknown was where I sit in the order. Me being the only Ford there, they decided to pair me up with the Nova right off. So after burning off half of my tires they staged us, and stalled it up to 2600 to launch. That was a big mistake. Lit them up entirely through 1st gear, and hook going into second. I thought for sure he'd have the jump on me but I kept a good 2 car lead through out! It must have looked great from the spectators view cause when I came back they were ecstatic!! The guy in the beamer wanted to race but the Nova guy wanted to make another pass because he was having blow-by problems, so I was all for it. 2nd run was just the same, he said that he gave it all and had no problems. I came back and asked how far I lit'em, they all said as far as they could see. It may not sound that great of a story but it sure felt great to me!! All I can say is never count out the trucks!
Uou can tell them next time that it was the first year of the SVT Lightning, and those little rich kids will belive you. I've done it, and they believed me because I can leave 4 feet of rubber when I catch 2nd gear in my bone stock (well, ignition and a 2bbl holley) 302 and 3spd with 3.25 gears. I know I will blow it up, but that will give me a reason to stoke an FE!!

Nice truck you have. Did you do the paint yourself? If so, have any tips for me?
