I've not had a good week with my vehicles. I noticed that someone had stolen the tabs off my car, so I went to take my pickup (72 F-250), and found the hood cracked open and the battery stolen. Is there any way to secure my hood or battery so it won't happen again?

Dang that sucks. Sorry to hear about the theft.
Consider installing/adapting a hood latch, cable, and handle assembly from the Dentsides... it'll only be operable from inside the cab.
One time I saw a rig at a car show who used a keyed file cabinet lock like the one pictured below. The owner wasn't around so I could ask him about it so it became a mental post-it note for me to figure out one day...
Time for even just a cheap alarm systems will work. Or chain it down.
I use a cable 3/16's coated cable with a fixed loop on the lower end bolted to one of the upper latch bolts and feed it down below the cross member that has a 1/2" hole drilled where, I attach it to a pad lock through the looped fixed end of the cable. It's justed down to open no more then about 1.5" when the latch is pulled to open. So no way for access anything under the hood.
But this is easier on my truck since it's a 4x4 that has the front cross member right by the radiator just forward of it. The cable falls in behind the grille center support bracket so it's harder to see.
